A hike along the Lecco branch
of Como Lake, between Abbadia
Lariana and Mandello del Lario.
In the woods behind the town of
Abbadia Lariana, in the Monastero
valley, the waters of Zelbio
stream form an amazing 50 meter
waterfall, the highest of the
Grigne group: Cenghen waterfall.
Here we will find a natural
pool where we can refresh during
the hike. A swim in the lake at
Mandello will also be possible… a
good way to say goodbye to summer.
Meeting time and place:
8:30am meeting point at Milano
Centrale Railway Station, at the
front of the platform of Regional
train 2816 (headed to Tirano).
Board 8:20am train to Lecco (arr.
8:59am) and at 9:13am, train to
Abbadia Lariana (arr. 9:20am)
Hike: Abbadia Lariana (215 m),
Cenghen Waterfalls (660 m),
Mandello del Lario (215 m).

To come back: 4:48pm (or
5:48pm) train from Mandello del
Lario to Milano Centrale (arr.
5:40pm or 6:40pm)
Difficulty: easy/medium; ascent:
450 m, descent: 450 m; walking
time (excluding stops): 3.5hrs;

Equipment: daily backpack, trekking
boots and socks or good
running shoes, trekking poles
(if you use them), comfortable
clothes, rain jacket, swimsuit and
towel, 1 liter bottle of water (canteen),
packed lunch, identity card
