Human connection beyond words: creating an art
project with people
have you ever paused to notice how much a single
hand can express? in a world where we are constant-
ly connected, yet often feel alone in our inner worlds,
how do we truly meet one another?
in this talk, Maria Teresa gavazzi will take us in-
side a unique artistic project born from the desire
to move beyond the solitude of painting and enter
into a living dialogue with people. stepping out of
her studio and into
the streets, she invit-
ed strangers (people
of all ages, cultures,
and backgrounds) to
write a thought di-
rectly on their hands.
Each hand became a
story, each encounter
a moment of shared
humanity.
Through this journey
across cities such as
Milan, london, Par-
is, Berlin, Barcelona,
lisbon, athens, and
sarajevo, she collect-
ed hundreds of ges-
tures, voices, and
perspectives, trans-
forming them into a
powerful visual and
human archive.
during this session,
you will discover how the project was created, from
idea to realisation; reflect on connection and the uni-
versality of expression; and be invited to consider
what story you would choose to write.
Maria Teresa gavazzi is an artist exploring human
connection and identity through projects that bring
creation beyond the studio and into real-life encoun-
ters. her work has been exhibited internationally, in-
cluding in Turin, rotterdam, and athens.
