A sea hike! Let’s discover the tiny colorful town of Sestri
Levante, on the eastern Ligurian riviera. From its
narrow cobbled streets we will begin to climb, until we
are surrounded by the Mediterranean bush, while the
blue sea will appear at our side, below us. This panoramic
hike will bring us to Punta Manara, a magnificent
viewpoint, perfect for our picnic (we will find some
amazing focaccia in the town). After our way back on
a different path, we will enjoy a swim in the romantic
Baia del Silenzio, right in the historic center of Sestri.
Meeting time and place: 7:10am meeting point at Milano
Centrale Railway Station, at the front of the platform
of Regional train 3015 (headed to Tirano). Board
7:25am train to Sestri Levante (arr. 10:3am). Elena will
board at Recco, at 9:50am.
Hike: Sestri Levante (0 m), Punta Manara (153 m).
Picnic
To come back: (suggested) 5:25pm IC train 680 from
Sestri Levante to Milano Centrale (arr. 8:00pm).
Difficulty: easy; ascent: 200 m, descent: 200 m; walking
time (excluding stops): 3hrs; 7km
Equipment: daily backpack, trekking boots and socks
or good running shoes, trekking poles (if you use
them), comfortable clothes, rain jacket, swimsuit and
towel, 1 liter bottle of water (canteen), identity card
Cost: €25 (includes insurance, does not include train
tickets)
